Items Required for First Degrees

All councils are reminded that when bringing candidates to other councils for First Degrees they should always bring a K of C rosary, Emblem of the Order pin, membership card and a copy of “These Men They Call Knights” for each of their candidates. Too often, councils bring candidates for First Degrees without these items.

Of course, the Financial Secretary, Grand Knight and candidate’s proposer should accompany the candidate to the degree whenever possible. A candidate should never attend a degree unaccompanied by a member of his council.

You should also provide a properly completed and signed Form 100 for each candidate. Each of your candidates should sign your council’s Constitutional Roll prior to coming to the degree.

If you need to order these items, do so on a standard Form 1.
Constitutional Roll is item 343 and costs $2.00.
Candidate’s Kit is item 531 and costs $3.50. The kit includes a rosary, rosary prayer card, copy of “These Men They Call Knights”, Emblem of the Order pin and additional materials.
Form 100-AZ is a no charge item.

Councils should always have an ample supply of these materials on hand.

Vivat Jesus!

Tucson Knights Choir

There has been some interest among Tucson K of C singing choir members across the diocese to establish a Tucson K of C Choir with the flexibility of singing at special events and regular functions. This choir could augment the stellar work of the Honor Guard and serve as a recruiting tool. At its inception (circa 1898) the Knights had their own Hymnal which was in TTBB (Tenor1, Tenor2, Baritone, Bass). Some of the more famous K of C Hymnal hymns were: "Lead, Kindly Light", "Abide With Me", "Nearer, My God To Thee", etc. The Knights have always led the way in all facets of Catholic liturgy and public evangelization that espouse Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. Singing is a component of this tip of the spear approach to Catholicism. If anyone is interested in forming a broadbased choir please contact any of the following:

Tribute to Father Emil Kapaun

Sir Knight Tommy Hasset of Father Henry Miller Assembly 2308 and Sacred Heart Council 14621 created a video tribute to Father Kapaun on the occasion of his being awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. S.K. Tommy says "As we meet in another crossroad in America's History with the bombings in Boston we need to reflect on the life of Fr. Emil J. Kapaun who offered comfort in times of extreme suffering, hardship, and violence. Last week, Fr. Emil Kapaun (April 20, 1916 - May 23, 1951) received the highest military honor from the US - the Medal of Honor for service in battle. The award was bestowed posthumously by President Obama."

Career Opportunity

Are you aware of our Order's recent accomplishments? This year we exceeded $88 billion of life insurance in force. This life insurance translates into income for our families, funds for education, mortgages and retirement. Just as important is the peace of mind our members have knowing that their families are properly protected.

To provide our ever-growing membership with the service they deserve, we are increasing our full-time staff in your area. I plan to contract an additional field agent for our agency, and could use some assistance finding the right person. The ideal candidate should have an entrepreneurial spirit, strong work ethic, unquestionable honesty and a desire to assist his Brother Knights and their families. Most likely, this person is presently employed and successful at his job, but perhaps he is dissatisfied with his current position and seeks a positive change.

Our agents enjoy higher than average income along with the flexibility of schedule that comes with being self-employed. We also provide extensive training, continuing education and support. In addition, a complete compensation package is available, which includes health insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, pension and 401K, training and expense allowance, bonus programs, incentive trips and more.

This great career is not for everyone. That's why I am writing you in the hope that you may know of someone, among your many acquaintances, who fits this profile and is looking for more out of life. Or, maybe you are considering a career change and this position sounds interesting. If you would like to discuss the field agent opportunity, please contact me at 480-285-1728 or Dan.Delvillar@kofc.org.
