Special Olympics Volunteers Are Needed

We are pleased to offer our Coronado Area sponsors the first opportunity to register their employees as volunteers for our upcoming spring competitions:
 

1)      Coronado Area Tennis Competition
Date:     Saturday, March 15^th
Shift:      11:30AM – 4:00PM  (Arrival: 11:30AM – 12:00PM; Volunteer Training: 12:00PM – 12:30PM; Competition: 12:30PM – 3:30PM; Awards: 3:30PM – 4:00PM)
Venue:   Tucson Racquet & Fitness Club (4001 N. Country Club Rd.)
Events:   Singles Match Play, Tennis Individual Skills Competition

Assignments:

·         10 Match Play Officials – Tennis experience/knowledge required
·         20 Match Play Line Judges/Ball Chasers – No experience required
·         40 Tennis Individual Skills Volunteers – Tennis experience required for some jobs (ball feeders), but not for others (score recorders, ball chasers)
·         2  Medical/First Aid Providers – EMT or Registered Nurse    
·         2 – 3 Photographers – Must have own camera and ability to put photos on a CD/DVD    

 

2)      Coronado Area Track & Field Competition
Date:     Saturday, April 5^th
Shift 1:   8:00am – 12:30pm;  Shift 2:  12:00pm – 4:30pm   (Additional Shifts for Volunteer Registration, Set-Up/Take Down, Truck Loading and Opening Ceremonies – Times TBD)
Venue:  Amphi High School (125 W. Yavapai Rd., near Prince Rd. & Stone Ave.)
Events:  25 different track & field events

Assignments:  Between 550 – 600 volunteers are needed throughout the course of the day to fill a variety of assignments, including: officials, timers, athlete escorts, set-up/clean-up crews, volunteer check-in, opening ceremonies parade organizers, photographers and a variety of other tasks.  With the exception of officials and a few other positions, volunteers are generally assigned to jobs at volunteer-check in order to insure that we have adequate coverage in all of the needed areas.  If someone has a specific assignment preference or limitations (e.g., no standing/walking) please make a notation in the comments section of the form.

The priority registration period for sponsors will end soon.  Your members will still be able to register after that date, but slots will be filled on a first-come basis.  

I’ve attached two Excel spreadsheets for you to register your volunteers.  We will be merging and sorting spreadsheets from different organizations, so it would be very helpful if you would use our forms.  If would also be helpful if you could send your spreadsheets to me as soon as possible and then on a weekly basis thereafter (versus sending me an email each time you recruit a new volunteer).
